Media advisory – Not for publication

BEDEO has created the world’s first in-wheel-motor-enabled retrofit kit for large vans
through its Reborn Electric programme. The first model, RE-100, will make its debut in the
UK at Road Transport Expo next week, showcasing the benefits of the circular economy
and how RE-100 enables low emissions without high capital expenditure

  • BEDEO confirmed to debut its Reborn Electric RE-100 at Road Transport Expo 2024
  • Reborn Electric is a retrofit programme for large vans, offering a way to electrify used examples through BEDEO Group’s OEM-approved turn-key proprietary technology
  • RE-100 is the first offering for UK and European customers, electrifying the rear wheels through in-wheel motors – a world first – plus retaining the diesel engine
  • Range extender technology with a difference, the RE-100 is capable of 117 km of electric range (WLTP mixed cycle), making it ideal for ‘last-mile’ city deliveries with the diesel retained for out-of-town depot drives
  • The Reborn Electric programme was launched Q4 2023 with Road Transport Expo 2024 being the location of the RE-100’s UK premiere
  • Media are invited to visit the stand, numbered GR21, and to register for exclusive interviews and demos on the stand, plus RE-100 drives in the ‘ride & drive’ area
  • BEDEO will also be launching a whitepaper on the importance of leveraging, supporting, and facilitating electric retrofits in the UK market, during the event

Farnham, 30 May 2024:
BEDEO, part of the wider BEDEO Group, is confirmed to debut its Reborn Electric RE-100 retrofit solution for large vans at the award-winning Road Transport Expo 2024 (RTX) at NAEC Stoneleigh next week (4-6 June 2024). Claiming global recognition for its trailblazing Reborn Electric retrofit programme for large vans, launched late last year (2023), BEDEO will make the UK premiere of the RE-100 range-extender large van retrofit solution at the event, with media invited to register for exclusive interviews and the opportunity to drive the RE-100, too.

Offering a solution for fleets looking to electrify their large vans, Reborn Electric was launched at the end of last year (Q4 2023), with first UK and European customer conversions and deliveries already in use. With the RE-100 already popular with UK customers, including one of the UK’s leading health and waste management companies, Medisort, BEDEO can confirm that it will be offering the opportunity to drive the RE-100 plus in-person interviews based from BEDEO’s Road Transport Expo 2024 stand (numbered GR21).

For the Reborn Electric programme, BEDEO Group designs, engineers and manufactures the electrification technology; including the in-wheel motor (IWM) technology from Protean Electric, while BEDEO manufactures and assembles its entire electrification range in-house, including battery packs and select electronic components. BEDEO has developed an ongoing co-operation with the Stellantis group since 2019, supplying and assembling electric drivetrains for its large light commercial vehicle (LCV) family (GVW: 3.5-4.5t). Stellantis has recently also approved the BE and RE versions, thus opening the retrofit market to the IWM solution.

A key tool to maximise total cost of ownership (TCO), the Reborn Electric programme is proven to help large fleets accelerate their low emissions goals without the large upfront cost of buying a brand-new electric van and means they can retain the often-costly rear cargo fit outs. Aside from the RE-100, the Reborn Electric range includes BE-100, BE-250 and BE-350 full electric options. The order book is now open for the range extended RE-100 retrofit conversions with UK-based van fleet managers invited to register interest for the full electric BE-100, BE-250 and BE-350 options before its on-sale date.

All journalists are advised to contact Hannah Burgess at hannah@hannahburgesspr.com to schedule interviews and RE-100 test drives, which are conducted on the ‘ride & drive’ course, using the media contact below. BEDEO will also be launching a whitepaper, titled ‘Accelerating the Transition, Supporting our Businesses: Enabling Low-Emission Fleets with Retrofit Electrification’ on the importance of leveraging, supporting, and facilitating electric retrofits in the UK market, during the event.
